Types of Ration Card in Maharashtra 

Under the Minimum Common Need Programme of Government of India, the poor families in the State were provided food grains at subsidized rate. The State Govt. Maharashtra has introduced Tricolor ration card scheme on the basis of income of family and other criteria which is discussed below.

Benefits of Ration Card

Yellow Ration Card

The Yellow Card is issued to those families whose annual income is upto 15,000/- and none of member of that family should nor be a professional tax payer, Sale tax payer or income tax payer.The family should not posses residential Telephone and should not have four wheeler.

Saffron Ration Card

The families whose income is more than 15000 and less than 1 lac comes under category of saffron Ration Card. None of the members in the family should have four wheeler mechanical vehicle. The family in all should not posses four hectare or more irrigated land.

Antyodaya Anna Yojana(AAY) 

Under this scheme the families are selected from following BPL categories:

  • All Primitive Tribal Households ( Madia, Kolam, katkari)
  • Households headed by Widows or Terminally ill persons or disabled persons or persons aged 60 years or more with no assured means of subsistence or social support.
  • Single widows or terminally ill persons or disabled persons or persons aged 60 years or more with no assured means of subsistence or societal support

White Ration Card

This card is issued to those families having annual income of Rs. 1 Lakh or above, any member of the family possessing a four wheeler or the family aggregately holding more than 4 hectare irrigated land are issued white ration cards.
